Salt, sugar, fatty intake: we know they’re not good for us. Eating “diet” food isn’t ideal, either. So, what’s a person striving to be healthy to do?
Glad you asked!
Are you eating fruits? Vegetables? Are you eating in moderation? It’s not about saying, “no” to any “party food”, (in fact, I was just told I needed to eat more salt!) It’s about conscious eating. Live a little! Have your cake and eat it, too! But be conscious of what and how much you’re eating.
How about exercising? Are you teaching Rover to fetch in hopes of grand rewards like delivery of potato chips and beer? Or, are you taking Rover for a walk?
During chemo, I figured calories were more important than monitoring how I got them. I ate whatever I craved. I ate things I hadn’t eaten in years—roast beef, ice cream, and iceberg lettuce. As you get stronger, you’ll be able to discern a bit more if the crave is for a need, or out of habit. You must decide the road you’ll take—not as in Rocky Road Ice Cream.
Happy, healthy eating!
