Alpha Lipoic Acid, and Vitamin B

The medical treatment saved your life. Some wholistic treatments may help you feel better.

If your feet or hands burn and tingle as a result of neuropathy, ask your doctor about using Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA.) Both my neurologist, and oncologist suggested it to me (600 mg 3x a day.) I’ve seen suggested ranges from 100-600 mg 3x day. It’s suggested not going over 1,800 mg a day. Alpha Lipoic Acid can help repair nerve damage sometime caused by chemo, radiation. It’s often used by people with diabetes to help with complications of diabetes.

Also, Vitamin B, especially B-12. I’ve been taking sublingual B-12, but recently learned methylcobalamin “methyl” B-12 is better absorbed and better retained by the body than cyanocobalamin B-12 (the B-12 most people take.) Whatever form, B-12 works best when not swallowed as a pill/capsule. It works best when chewed, melted in the mouth, or received as a shot.

In addition to ALA and vitamin B-12, I used Neurontin (also known as Gabapentin.) They all inched me forward. Be patient, especially if you’re tall. It takes the nerves on a tall person longer to get from their spine to their toes than it does on a shorter person.
